It is one of the sites of\u00a0<a title=\"Amazon Web Services\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Amazon_Web_Services\">Amazon Web Services<\/a>, and is owned by\u00a0<a title=\"Amazon.com\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Amazon.com\">Amazon<\/a>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-mturk1_2-0\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Amazon_Mechanical_Turk#cite_note-mturk1-2\">[2]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Employers are able to post jobs known as Human Intelligence Tasks (HITs), such as choosing the best among several photographs of a storefront, writing product descriptions, or identifying performers on music CDs. Workers (called\u00a0<i>Providers<\/i>\u00a0in Mechanical Turk&#8217;s Terms of Service, or, more colloquially,\u00a0<i>Turkers<\/i>) can then browse among existing jobs and complete them in exchange for a monetary payment set by the employer.
